Description

PHO Grand Rounds: Sealant Utilization for Children in the Region of Peel

Dental caries is one of the most common, yet preventable childhood chronic diseases. Dental sealants (also termed pit and fissure sealants) are an effective strategy for the prevention of pit and fissure caries, as discussed in the following rapid review: http://www.peelregion.ca/health/library/pdf/PFS-rapid-review-may2015.pdf

In order to determine the extent to which sealants are being utilized in the Region of Peel, Peel Public Health has started collecting information about sealant use amongst children in Peel. In this session, we will present the methodology that is being used to collect and analyze this information, the results for the 2015-2016 school year, and next steps.
